Blog Post #1: My Courage Project Idea

This year, I start the courage project, AKA "Genius Hour". Genius hour is basically about having 20% of class time for a student to pursue anything or work on anything they want to do. I have never done a project like this and I'm very excited. I am most excited by the fact that I can do something in my school time that I was too scared or hesitant to do. I am working alone, and I think that pros of working alone is that you can go at your own pace. You don't have to worry about catching up with your partner or friend. You can also express more of your ideas and your vision. Of course, you would have to put in more of your own time. If you had a partner, you would have another brain working on the project, which means more ideas. However, you would have to make sure your partner agrees with whatever you are doing on the project.

Some challenges I see with this project is coming up with an idea that is strong enough. Being able to come up with an idea that is acceptable, able to execute, and of some interest is challenging. Another part is actually keeping up with the blog posts and actually doing what your project is about. For example, if you want to learn a new language, coming up with the idea of "I want to learn spanish" is easy. Actually executing it, by taking classes or some other way, is the hard part. This applies to any one project. Actually executing what we planned to do is hard because of our nature of being procrastinator and lazy. I'm not saying everyone does this, but a majority of people probably do this and don't notice. One final problem I think I might have to overcome is the final exhibition. I think that presenting is hard enough, but in front of at least 50 students! If anything takes courage, it's presenting in front of 50+ people!

One idea that I am very passionate about is entering a photo or collection of photos that I took into a photography contest. This has occasionally crossed my mind and I even was in an informal contest in my digital photography class. The second idea that Id had was possibly learning another language or learning how to play an instrument.
